“Midnight, Manhattan” ♫

Click to Play: Midnight, Manhattan (2006)

When I got back from studying music at Camp ILC, I ran my bootleg copy of Reason and fervently set off toward making my first piece of electronic music. I wanted to use an old Iron Butterfly record I’d found in Vermont and so I did. But then, so did Nas (“Hip Hop is Dead”). Down, but not out, I found another sample on the IB record and built a sonic collage (in the words of Fatboy Slim) around it. This one’s for walking in the city on a cold night.
